Recipe of the week. Great for left-overs too!
This is simple, hearty, and deeply comforting.
You’ll need
- Canned ham, cubed or cooked meat
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2–3 potatoes, cubed
- Sauerkraut (drained just a little)
- Carrots, sliced
- Butter or oil
- Pepper (and a pinch of sugar if you like mellow kraut)
How
- Sauté onion in butter/oil until soft.
- Add ham cubes and let them brown slightly.
- Add potatoes & carrots. Stir, cover, and let them soften (add a splash of water if needed).
- Stir in sauerkraut, sprinkle with pepper, and a tiny pinch of sugar if you like.
- Cover and let everything simmer together until tender and fragrant.
Serve with sour dough bread if you have it — or just a deep bowl and a quiet evening. 🕯️
